Itinerary

Day 1

Known as the capital of fun during the 40’s and 50’s, this spellbinding city immediately captures the curiosity of her many visitors. But where do you start? Put on your walking shoes and take in Havana’s rich history, grand monuments, world  famous cigars and scrumptious cocktails. You can easily get lost in Havana Vieja (old Havana), the old city of cobble stoned alleyways and colonial buildings, ancient squares and noted churches. The perfect day to get your bearings and meet your guide and group for an optional evening meal. If you arrive early enough on a Sunday you can join your Cuba dance tour guide at Callejón de Hamel for a frenetic Afro-Cuban Rumba session on a Sunday afternoon. The perfect start to your memorable and energetic Cuba dance holiday.

Day 2 / 3

The next stop on your Cuba dance tour is Vinales. Set in a beautiful, lush valley of the Pinar del Rio province, Vinales is one of the most breathtaking locations in Cuba. In the heart of Cuba’s prime tobacco growing region, Vinales sits quietly surrounded by a number of stunning karst hill formations known as mogotes (pin cushions).

Experience first-hand the hospitality of a Cuban Homestay and take advantage of the many outdoor activities available to you. Breathtaking views and an ‘enthusiastic’ nightlife will surely make your stay in Vinales a memorable one.

Vinales is also the location for your first of six included dance lessons on your Cuba dance holiday and we don’t think you will find a better view for the experience! Catch a concert taking place at the local Casa de la Cultura, or dance the night away at the hugely popular Patio de Polo Montañez.

Day 4

It’s time for a piece of Cuban history and culture on your Cuba dance tour. Santa Clara holds a special place in Cuban history, where in December 1958, Commander Ernesto Che Guevara led his revolutionary rebels in the derailment of the armoured train carrying the ammunition Batista had sent to defeat Fidel – the revolution was won.

Santa Clara also has the reputation of being Cuba’s most eclectic location and is a must visit on any of our Cuba dance holidays. Given its large student population, Santa Clara’s comparatively liberal nature means you might even catch a heavy metal concert or drag show when taking advantage of its thriving nightlife.

Today you have the chance to visit and take a lesson with Santa Clara’s renowned dance group Cinco de Diciembre. A lively night out at Club Mejunje or El Bosque to practice your salsa is also a fun option.

Day 5 / 6

In the morning your Cuba dance tour stops at the Che Guevara mausoleum and memorial in Santa Clara, where Che’s remains are immortalised following their discovery in Bolivia in 1997.

Then it’s on to the favourite destination of many a traveler to Cuba. Trinidad was founded in 1514 by Diego Velázquez and is considered a jewel in Cuban colonial architecture. For some, Trinidad is a living museum, stuck in the time of Cuba’s first War of Independence when local sugar plantations were devastated by fire. The vibrant colours and soulful music littered along cobbled streets will simply take your breath away.

Alongside another one or two spritely dance lessons, have a mojito or beer, and hear real Cuban music at the busy Plaza Major. Palenque de los Congos Reales and Casa del la Musica are also great places to practice those newly learnt moves. One of the most unusual nightspots in Cuba has to be the dance club carved out of a deep two-level cave, Discoteca Ayala, also called La Cueva.

We can include visits to all of these popular music and dance venues on any of our Cuba dance holidays – just ask us for our recommendations and we will do the rest.  Aside from dancing and music, let our guides take you to local waterfalls, historic sugar mills or one of Cuba’s best beaches – Playa Ancon.

Day 7 / 8

Back in Havana you have the opportunity to explore some more and experience Cuban nightlife one last time. A tour of the city by classic car might be just the ticket along with one last dance lesson to complete your Dance Cuba! Tour!

On all of our Cuba dance holidays we will recommend various Havana music and dance venues to explore. Some of these are popular with tourists and some are more authentic and popualr witht he locals. A visit to Havana’s world famous Ballet Español de Cuba or the Gran Teatro de la Habana is definitely recommended.
