VINTAGE HAVANA TOUR

Our 4-Day Vintage Havana Tour can be completely customized to suit your group, and the order or make-up of the excursions can be altered to fit in with your preferences.  We can also lengthen or shorten the tour to fit in within your available timeframes.

Join our amazing Vintage Havana Tour for the best city adventure in Cuba!  Removed from the quiet fields of sugar cane and mango trees that thrive further afield, Cuba's largest city is an urban metropolis – a place of rambling Colonial architecture, historical squares and plazas and the vibrant Artists Quarter. Be transported back in time as you stroll through the cobbled streets of the Old Town and immerse yourself in the iconic sights and sounds of Havana and the people that are the rhythm of the city.  The Vintage Havana Tour incorporates all the nostalgic elements you would expect, like antique cars, cigars and Salsa rhythms, but you will also have a chance to meet a few local Cubans and hear their stories at first hand, giving you a rare insider glimpse into the history, culture and rhythms that make Havana unique

Itinerary

Day 1

Your Havana tour starts with our personalized Meet-and-Greet at the airport, followed by a transfer to your chosen accommodation in a Classic American car, just to set the scene! Today you will meet your local Cuban guide, one of our hand-picked experts on everything to do with Havana to discuss the finer points of your itinerary.  In the evening your guide will accompany you to one of our favourite local Paladars – a family-run Cuban restaurant where you can experience true local food and hospitality for the first time.  Later, if you are up for it, you can visit a famous Havana Jazz club to get your feet tapping to the lively Cuban music and dance that will become a thread that weaves itself all the way through your tour.

Day 2

After a refreshing nights’ rest and a big Cuban breakfast you will be ready to explore Old Havana.  The faded and slightly crumbling facades that you see today in Old Havana are a nostalgic reminder of the earlier magnificence of the baroque and neoclassic architecture and style of this unique UNESCO World Heritage Centre.  The face of the city has changed dramatically in the last 5,000 years, since it was originally established by the Spanish around 1519, but Havana has not lost her charm and a tour of the Old Havana offers a delightful insight into the past of this city.  Not only will you see all the main sights, but you will be entertained by the sounds and atmosphere of everyday life going on all around you.  So, put on your walking shoes, grab your camera, and prepare to be amazed by this vibrant and exciting city.

Lunch will be at the restaurant Cafe Laurent, one of a new breed of family-run eateries serving some of the best food in the city.  This hidden gem in Havana Vedado has wonderful views of the Malecon for your pleasure.

After lunch you will be driven by a chauffeur in a great Classic American Car to see some of the most famous areas of Havana, including New Havana, Santa Maria Beach, the affluent suburb of Miramar and the amazing cemetery of Colon.

Strolling or driving along the Malecon, Havana’s beautifully restored seaside boulevard, you will be able to see the spectacular sunset and have some picture-perfect photo opportunities.

There are numerous great choices for evening entertainment and dining and your guide will be happy to make recommendations and bookings for you.

Day 3

Another great Cuban breakfast will have you ready and eager for your next Havana adventure.  We start the day with our amazing Hemingway Tour – the acclaimed journalist and writer Ernest Hemingway loved Cuba; he loved the relaxed lifestyle, the marvellous game fishing and the atmosphere, but most of all he loved the Cuban people, who responded by treating him as an adopted son.  Visiting Havana today is like stepping back in time to Hemingway’s years on the island – the cars still look the same, the gracious old buildings that he loved are still there, albeit a little crumbling and faded, and you can retrace his steps along the same avenues and cobbled streets he so enjoyed.  See where he lived and visit his favourite haunts – try his favourite cocktails and see where his most important work “The Old Man and the Sea” was written.  See Havana through his eyes and get to know and love the city just as much as Hemingway did.

Lunch will be at another of our favourite Havana restaurants serving excellent genuine Cuban fare.

After lunch we have a visit to the Artists Quarter planned – one of the highlights of your Havana Tour.  Your guide will take you to atmospheric Callejon de Hammel where you can soak up the atmosphere and the vibrant art scene.  Those with deeper interest in Art can book our Havana Art Tour instead –

The Havana Art Tour is the best way to find out more about the thriving Art scene in the city; you will have the opportunity to meet local artists, both established and emerging, visit their studios and find out how their art has been influenced by the turbulent history of Cuba and the previous restrictions that were placed on self-expression.  Learn how international trends have started to filter into their work and who they take inspiration from.  The tour will include visits to art centres and museums as well as pre-booked appointments with individual artists, and the itinerary will include any artistic events that are being staged in the city at the time of your visit.

Your guide will be on hand to help you decide where to spend your last night in Havana and make all the bookings.  How about a magical night at the legendary Copacabana Club? Drink a little rum, be dazzled by the view and vow to return to Cuba for more! Viva Cuba!

Day 4

Make the most of your last day in wonderful Havana by re-tracing your steps to some of the interesting venues you have touched on during the last two days, or book one of our Special Interest tours to round off your visit.  If you love the crumbling old buildings book our Havana Architecture Tour, which will give you an in-depth look at the stories behind the styles.

Perhaps you just want to relax on a beach – this is the Caribbean after all!  Well, there are great beaches within an hour of the city and your guide will be happy to organise a day of swimming and snorkelling in superb non-touristy destinations such as Santa Maria or Jibacoa.

How about Salsa dancing lessons?  These can also be arranged as a fitting ending to your Havana Tour.

After lunch you will say a sad farewell to your new friends and your guide and get ready to wave goodbye to Havana.

Unless, of course, you just cannot tear yourself away and would like to extend your stay in Havana or explore further afield in Cuba.  We can organise anything from, Havana day tours to Scuba Diving Tours and Rustic countryside Tours and more… an Havana tour unlike any other

We can also organise tailor-made Havana tours as well.
